TPS®/TN3270 Server ( TCP/IP ) acts as a gateway between SNA applications on a mainframe / host system and downstream TN3270 and TN3270E clients connecting via TCP/IP.

Supported on a variety of different Unix® and Windows® platforms, TPS®/ TN3270 Server ( TCP/IP ) is a standards compliant TN3270 and TN3270E emulation that enables downstream TN3270 Clients access to legacy applications or data on IBM® mainframes ( i.e. TSO™, CICS™, VM™, etc. ) via a gateway.

TPS®/ TN3270 Server supports both terminal ( LU2 ) and printer emulation ( LU1 / LU3 ). TPS®/ TN3270 Server requires the services of a co-resident SNA subsystem ( i.e. TPS®/ SNA or IBM®/SNA ) to handle the actual communication to the host / mainframe system.

TPS®/TN3270 Client ( TCP/IP ) is a full-featured, standards compliant TN3270E terminal ( LU2 ) and printer emulator ( LU1 / LU3 ). When connected over a TCP/IP link to a corresponding TN3270 Server, it lets a system emulate 3270 devices and participate in an SNA network. TPSŪ/TN3270 Client ( TCP/IP ) is a full-featured, standards compliant TN3270E terminal ( LU2 ) and printer emulator ( LU1 / LU3 ). When connected over a TCP/IP link to a corresponding TN3270 Server, it lets a system emulate 3270 devices and participate in an SNA network. TPSŪ/SNA ( Systems Network Architecture ) is a full featured SNA implementation for both traditional hierarchical subarea networks ( PU 4 / 5 to PU 2.0 ) and peer-to-peer networks ( PU 2.1 ). LU support includes dependent support for LUs 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and dependent and independent LU support for LU 6.2. TPSŪ/SNA supports multiple links ( PUs ) and data link types on the same system ( limited only by the number and type of hardware adapters on the system ). Data link types supported include: SDLC, Token Ring, Ethernet, or Data Link Switching - DLSw ( Switch to Switch Protocol ).

Do you need TN3270 Clients? TPS® Systems provides a full featured TN3270 Client ( TCP/IP ). Check out TPS®/ TN3270 Client.

PRODUCT POSITIONING

TPS®/ TN3270 Server ( TCP/IP ) is an ideal solution when:

  • Downstream devices with TCP/IP connections and TN3270 software need to participate in SNA networks
  • Minimizing or eliminating SNA WAN connections while maintaining network performance
  • Data communications needs to be sencrypted with SSL
FEATURES

3270 Terminal Support ( LU2 )

  • 3277 Model 1 ( 24x80 )
  • 3278 Models 2 ( 24x80 ), 3 ( 32x80 ), 4 ( 43x80 )
  • 3279 Color Models 2 ( 24x80 ), 3 ( 32x80 ), 4 ( 43x80 ), 5 ( 27x132 )

3270 Printer Support ( LU1 and LU3 )

  • 3286 Model 1 and 2 ( up to 102x255 )
  • 3287 Model 1 and 2 ( up to 102x255 )

Session Support

  • Multiple 3270 sessions per client system

File Transfer

TPS®/ TN3270 Server ( TCP/IP ) supports TN 3270 clients which do file transfers to and from the host using the standard IND$FILE protocol. It can be used to transfer both binary and record type files.

Secure Socket Layer ( SSL ) Support

TPS®/ TN3270 Server can create a SSL connection to a SSL enabled TN3270 Client, over which data can be sent securely

Protocol Support

TPS®/ TN3270 Server ( TCP/IP ) supports the standard TN3270E protocol for terminals ( LU2 ) and printers ( LU1 and LU3 ). TN3270 Server requires the services of a co-resident SNA subsystem that handles the actual communication configurations dealing with connections.
